The Bur Oak is a tall, rounded tree with huge leaves and golf ball size acorns, which once covered central North America.
Bur Oak trees do well in many different soil types from sand to heavy clays. Bur Oak trees grow well in the black and white
soils of north Bur Oak trees have very few diseases or insect pests. The Bur Oak is one of the fastest growing and longest
living oaks in Texas. Bur Oak trees are drought tolerant, which is due to their long taproot. Bur Oak leaves
are lobed and very large from 6 to 10 inches long and 4 to 5 inches wide, which turn yellow to brown in the fall. |
